About Orangex

OrangeX, C.A. was incorporated in 1992 in Maracay, Venezuela (formerly a part of Indumet's housewares division) with the mission of becoming a leading producer of professional-quality, mechanical cast iron citrus juicers. By 1996 the company had become the leading supplier of juicers to the commercialindustry in South America.

Indumet, a nearly 40-year-old foundry and manufacturing plant founded by the visionary Fernando Egana, is a worldwide leader in finished cast iron products.

In 1989, Gonzalo and Carlos Egana and Ricardo Viloria joined the company to increase operating performance and explore new business opportunities for the company's housewares division. In addition to Juicers, the company had been manufacturing cast iron cookware, among other housewares products. The young talents spearheaded the incorporation of a United States entity by traveling extensively throughout the country and undertaking feasibility studies with The Beren Group marketing firm in New York.

After determining the markets competitive-yet-promising condition, the company was set up in early 1998 (incorporated as OrangeX, Inc) and within 6 months time was up and running.OrangeX set up a warehouse and customer service facility in New Jersey, implemented a nationwide network of independent sales representatives servicing upscale gourmet and housewares retailers, and created full-color packaging, advertising and merchandising materials. The company officially launched its product to retail buyers at the Gourmet Products Show, Spring 1998 and begun shipping it's juicers in August. OrangeX has already seen sales double each month. (OrangeX also markets to the restaurant and foodservice industries in this country.)

The inaugural OrangeX assortment entitled The Worlds Best Manual Juicers consists of professional-quality, manual cast iron juicers in an array of colors and 2 professional sizes. Each is constructed of high-quality cast iron, the juicers feature an oversized easy-grip handle, an extra-wide stainless steel cone and funnel, a patented lever mechanism that is superior to the rack and pinion gears, the sturdiest base available and 25% more juice capacity than comparable products. OrangeX juicers use no electricity, are extremely easy to use and appeal to consumers who know that fresh-pressed juice provides superior taste and health benefits.

In addition to it's U.S. operation, OrangeX already has 5 distributors in 4 key European cities. Sales to the European market are growing rapidly and by 1999 should reach 10% of OrangeX total sales. There are no plans however, to set up a division of OrangeX in Europe yet.

Presently, OrangeX is also putting finishing touches on its website www.orangex.com and has finalized a series of informative product hang tags complete with health facts about citrus and recipes. A product demonstration program is an integral part of the companys in-store merchandising.

In addition, the Venezuelan foundry/plant is completing a multi-million-dollar installation of new machinery that will increase its overall capacity tenfold this year.
